Just a quick update on our BART in Bloom story and a video of our marvellous volunteers preparing for sale the daffodils they picked earlier that day at Bingham’s Plant Nursery (191 Hillhead Road,Ballyclare) . Mrs Anne Bingham recently had hip surgery. Anne and Ian prepared, planted and then donated their field ‘in bloom’ to BART and the people of Ballyclare and Antrim have shown fantastic support by advertising and taking donations for our daffodils. Would you like to get involved? Contact the office on 02895046799. We can deliver a bucket of daffodils and a collection box or alternatively we can arrange for to you to collect at Bingham’s .

Thanks to Holmes & Mary Crothers, Lynda & Daniel Horner, Islandbawn Stories, Arlene’s Hair & Beauty, Greys Restaurant & Deli, David Henderson Opticians, and of course all you folks who have donated. Last but not least a big thanks to the staff and management at Bingham’s, see you at the weekend when we will be picking some more!

This is Kim, one of the BART volunteers. Kim has had two knee replacements but doesn’t let that stop her when it comes to helping out.  She leads a very busy life but still finds time to volunteer for BART. Kim invites you to do the same. You can #TakePart4BART by volunteering at the Deep RiverRock Belfast City Marathon on Sunday 5th of May to man a water station, cheer station or help us welcome our runners and walkers at the charity village. Message us or contact Beverley in the BART office at
Any help you can give us would be gratefully received 😊

Thanks to the fab team at MPH restaurant for their continued support and to the staff, patients and visitors for their generous donations.  Total raised £117.75

Mrs Anne Bingham from Bingham’s Plant Nursery (191 Hillhead Road,Ballyclare) recently had hip surgery.  She is not the only in the family to have had this surgery, her sister Maree Hurst has also had hip replacement and their good friend Mary Crothers another valued supporter of BART, has also had a hip replacement.

Bingham’s Plant Nursery, Mary and her family all support the annual BART Walk but this year Ian, Anne’s husband, has come up with something a little different!  With the help of Andrew Downey from Ballynure, both men planted bulbs in rows 60cm wide and just short of 2 miles long at a field close to the Nursery. Ian then contacted the BART office with the offer of donating the flowers to BART to assist them with their fund raising efforts  - all the BART team have to do is pick and sell them!  The team went to visit the family and the field and are excited to be part of this scheme!

Ian would like to thank Derick Turbitt, a daffodil breeder from Portstewart, who assisted by selecting the commercial bulbs and of course Andrew who helped with the planting.

Alison has been a BART supporter for many years and one of the ways she raises money is by collecting all the family's loose change.  Her efforts in 2018 raised £75. What a great way to fund raise without leaving the house!

Our research would not be possible without the important donations we receive throughout the year. So please help us further our work by sending a donation today.
