Check out some of the great work that BART has helped to support with Patient Reported Outcome Measures (PROMS) in Musgrave Park Hospital with Seamus O'Brien  and  Ellen Hayes

Raymond Stevenson (Stevie) had his first hip replacement in Musgrave Park Hospital in 2000 and his second hip operation in 2016.  Stevie is a valued member of the BART family having been a volunteer  for many years.  He is the resident musician at our annual walk and family day held in June. Stevie has also be a member of BART’s patient liaison group and a volunteer at Musgrave Park Hospital.

2019 was another excellent year for BART research!

We published 13 peer reviewed journal papers
We completed 1 year data collection for our largest clinical trial to date TRAC-24 look out for the publication in 2020.
We trialled the enhanced recovery after surgery programme which has received very positive feedback from patients.
We branched out to new areas of orthopaedics by becoming a recruiting site for the Science Study, a randomised controlled trial comparing whether elbow fractures heal better in a cast or with surgery.

A big thank you to the BART research team and all the Belfast Trust staff who help us with our research, we couldn't do it without you.  We look forward to 2020 with several new studies being planned.

BART director Professor David Beverland was at Altnagelvin Area Hospital at the end of 2019 to discuss the enhanced recovery after surgery service improvement project that’s been on going in Musgrave Park Hospital for hip and knee replacement patients.

Our research would not be possible without the important donations we receive throughout the year. So please help us further our work by sending a donation today.
