We are very proud to introduce BART’s official photographer for the Deep RiverRock Belfast City Marathon events on Sunday 5th May.  Natasha from Bokeh Moments is a media student at Ulster University and has very kindly volunteered to capture all the action for us!  She  will be at the start line at Stormont Estate so make sure you keep an eye out for her and come and say hello!

Several of the Staff in Royal Belfast Hospital for Sick Children  Orthopaedic Department will #TakePart4BART in this year’s Deep RiverRock Belfast City Marathon Run and Walk.  Thanks to Nurses Claire Wilson & Clare Brown for organising a coffee morning yesterday and to everyone who came along to show their support.

Professor Bengoa who produced the October 2016 report “Systems Not Structures – Changing Health and Social Care” is In N. Ireland this week and had this to say:
“Change in health and social care can often prove difficult and controversial. It’s the same all over the world – and for good reason. We are dealing with vitally important and much valued services.  However, let’s always remember that avoiding change is not a safe or responsible course of action.Without transformation, services will continue to deteriorate. More of the same means just that – longer waits for treatment, increasing pressure on staff. If you want to build reliable health care for the future, the status quo is not an option.”
We couldn’t agree more which is why we are working with the innovative staff at Musgrave Park Hospital in the Belfast Health and Social Care Trust to implement an enhanced recovery approach to surgery to transform the service for joint replacement patients.

On Sunday 5th May the Deep RiverRock Belfast City Marathon will embark on one of it’s biggest years to date with a brand new marathon route, move to a Sunday and with a record number of marathon runners ever for the event.  As one of the official charity partners we want this to be the best event it can be and we need YOUR help to make this happen! If you have family, friends, work colleagues or club members who are planning to come out to support the runners and walkers on the day...please encourage them to contact us to volunteer along the new route!

New BART research just out this month in Hip International looking at the incidence, risk factors and outcome of foot drop following hip replacement.

Our research would not be possible without the important donations we receive throughout the year. So please help us further our work by sending a donation today.
