Mr Owen Diamond MSc, MD, DipSEM, FRCSEd(Tr&Orth)

Owen Diamond was appointed as Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon to the Royal Victoria Hospital and Musgrave Park Hospital in September 2018. He completed his medical degree in Trinity College Dublin in 2004. He has an interest and has specialist training in Orthopaedic Trauma, including Pelvic and Acetabular fractures, Hip and Knee Arthroplasty and Hip Preservation Surgery.

Owen has numerous awards, publications, national and international presentation in both Trauma and Elective Orthopaedic Research. During his training in Belfast he took time out of program to complete a Research Doctorate (MD) in Queens University Belfast under the supervision of Professor Beverland. This was focused on improving the way we control component positioning during total hip surgery in an effort to improve patient outcomes, the project was supported by BART and was titled “Determination of Femoral Head Centre During Total Hip Arthroplasty”.

He has also completed a Master of Science in Critical Appraisal and Understanding of Research in Trauma and Orthopaedics, in the University of Warwick and a Diploma in Sports and Exercise Medicine in the Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh.

Following completion of his training in Belfast in January 2015, he spent extensive time on Fellowship at internationally renowned centres in Birmingham, Vancouver, Bristol and the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York focusing on Orthopaedic Trauma, Lower limb Arthroplasty and Hip Preservation Surgery.
